Wood finding form in New England

toddtinkham

When Bobby Wood was signed in the off-season many in the New England Revolution fan base were skeptical if this going to be another Bruce Arena USMNT bust? This has proven to be exactly the opposite. Wood has 6 goals and 3 primary assists in 15 appearances for the Revs this year. Wood's stellar work rate and consumate professionalism in the locker room has been infectious on and off the field. Wood has helped New England to a solid start in the 2023 campaign. Leading the line wasn't initially the plan when Wood was brought in after a mediocre 2 year spell with Real Salt Lake. Revs DP's Gustavo Bou and Giacomo Vrioni were supposed to be the 2 forwards that were week in week out starters. With Bou battling injury and Vrioni falling in and out of favor with Bruce Arena Wood has been the one constant forward in the line up so far this season. A member of GMG and Footy New England caught up with Wood within the community and asked him what has been the change in his run of form with New England. Wood mentioned his body has recovered well from adductor surgery which he had last year and how he has enjoyed New England and his surroundings since signing prior to the 2023 season. The Revolution certainly hope that Wood can continue his consistent play which has seen him score the most goals since his 2016-2017 season with Hamburg in the German Bundesliga. I for one have been supremely impressed with Wood and wish him the best going forward in his career and quest to help New England lift their first MLS Cup.
