More details are emerging in regards to Tomas Chancalay's departure from the New England Revolution. The once highly touted Argentine Forward signed for New England permanently back in 2023 after a short, successful loan spell.

Chancalay was bought permanently from Racing Club for $3.1 million dollars which made him a Designated player. Chanc unfortunately tore his ACL early in the 2024 season and never quite found his form.

Chancalay was told that he was not going to be involved in the Revs plans moving forward and both sides then went on a search to find Chanc a new home.

He was offered to several clubs, but there were minimal takers. Since Chancalay was under contract in 2026 for New England clubs only were willing to take him on loan with New England continuing to help pay his $1 million dollar salary.

Once it became clear that no clubs abroad were going to bite, New England sold Chancalay within the league to Minnesota for a fraction of what they paid for him. Minnesota offered the Revs $100k, and instead of New England using their buyout on Chanc, they took the cash.

Chancalay, now with the Loons is not a DP and is hoping to rejuvenate his career with one of the top Western Conference teams of 2025.
