Vrioni led Revs whallop San Luis

toddtinkham

It's been a long time coming for Giacomo Vrioni. Last night he showed what he can do if given a chance. The Albanian striker scored a hat trick in Revs 5-1 drubbing of Atletico San Luis of Liga MX. A Gustavo Bou banger and a San Luis own goal rounded out the scoring. San Luis had moments in the first half where they were very dangerous. However in the back they were a mess and Revs punished them. Let's get back to Vrioni. GV hasn't been given a stretch of starts since joining the Revs last July. Some in the fan base and Revs approved media had already given up on him. Last night showed he should have been starting while Bruce Arena was throwing Jozy Altidore a spot start here and there. Bobby Wood has been good, but appears his form has slowed a bit. Gustavo Bou came late while awaiting his green card and Vrioni still couldn't consistently crack the 11. It appears finally that Vrioni will be given the long overdue chances to start with the best 11 and do his thing. I sure hope so. The Revs move on to the knockout round of Leagues Cup where they will play Atlas or NYCFC in the round of 32. The game will be next week some time.
