Scorcha holds off Bosh United

toddtinkham

It was a beautiful night for Footy at Falmouth High school as Bosh United hosted Scorcha on Wednesday evening. Scorcha was able to hold off Bosh United and defeat the new Falmouth based side 5-4

Bosh opened the scoring in the 9th minute, when Lucas Reis put in a cross, that was poorly dealt with by the Scorcha defense. Nathan Chbarbi was able to squeeze his shot by the Scorcha keeper giving Bosh the 1-0 lead.

Bosh doubled the lead when Webert Moniz got in behind the Scorcha defense and beat the Scorcha keeper with a clinical finish. The Moniz goal awoke the Scorcha squad who then finished off the half with 3 straight goals, all by left winger Ramsey. All 3 goals were spectacular finishes with the first taking a deflection on the way through. The 2nd was beautiful build up with captain midfielder Raheem Champagnie providing the service and the 3rd a first time volley rocket beating Bosh keeper Renato Melo.

The half concluded with Scorcha up 3-2, which would have been more if not for the heroics of Melo in net for Bosh.

Scorcha started the second half on the front foot and got a 4th, before Moniz got his brace for Bosh nutmegging the Scorcha keeper bringing Bosh back within 1 goal at 4-3. Unmarkable winger for Scorcha, Ramsey tallied his 4th goal of the game when he was able to cut in on his right foot and beat Melo after the shot took a nasty deflection, putting Scorcha back up by 2 goals.

Bosh refused to give up and brought the game back within 1 goal when a cross turned into an own goal from Scorcha, adding drama to the last 5 minutes of the game. Sadly for Bosh they were unable to equalize and the game finished Scorcha 5, Bosh United 4.

Overall the game had some moments of quality and comedy. Scorcha has some former pros in the team. Midfielder Garen Downie played for Monteego Bay in Jamaica. Garen an imposing midfielder dictated the pace of the game all night for Scorcha pulling the strings. Midfielder Raheem Champagnie has an Ngolo Kante like work rate with pace to burn as well.

Caleb Souza showed well for Bosh providing 2 assists on the evening. Bosh has mainly college aged players and are looking to build on their first season in the Cape Cod Summer League.

Playoffs are approaching and the conclusion of the season will be very exciting with 2 pieces of silverware available. 1 for regular season points winner and 1 for the team left standing at the end of the playoffs.
