Revs victorious vs SKC

toddtinkham

Giacomo Vrioni's brace carried the New England Revolution to a 2-1 victory over Sporting KC Saturday Night at Gillette Stadium. Vrioni scored 2 poachers goals in the 31st and 35th minute of the game that "unlocked the door" for the Revs. New England was dominant in the first half in possession and chance creating. The 2-0 lead was well deserved. The second half was a different story. A Johnny Russell goal in the 50th minute gave Sporting KC a lifeline. In the 61st minute a red card on Sportings Andreu Fountas appeared to cripple SKC's effort to finish the 90, however it only motivated them. Sporting was by far the better team playing down a man and if it wasn't for a stoppage time save from Djordje Petrovic we would have been talking about points dropped for New England. In the end the 3 points went to New England taking them to top in the Supporter's Shield race and #1 in the Eastern Conference. Next week sees FC Cincy coming in to Foxboro in a battle of 1st and 2nd place in the East. It's sure to be a doozy.......
