Revs victorious in Matchday 1!

toddtinkham

The New England Revolution started the 2023 season with an impressive 1-0 win in front of 60k+ fans in Charlotte Saturday night. Henry Kessler scored the lone goal in the 89th minute for the Revs to shock the home crowd. Kessler's goal came after a poor Charlotte clearance to Noel Buck, who headed the ball to Brandon Bye. Bye then played a through ball which was deflected to Kessler who showed great composure and the clinicalness of a striker to put the Revs ahead. The Revs saw center back pairing Henry Kessler and Dave Romney make their season debut together and from the outset they had fantastic chemistry. Djordje Petrovic had his usual top keeper performance with the clean sheet. The Revs home opener is next Saturday night vs Houston Dynamo at 7:30. Opinion.....For the Revs to go on the road and win in a hostile environment gives me optimism heading in to 2023. Romney and Kessler were fantastic in the back and Noel Buck showed tremendous promise next to Matt Polster.
