Revs trying to stay hot

toddtinkham

The New England Revolution have put together a 3 game win streak and look to stay hot vs one of the faves to win the cup FC Cincinnati. FC Cincy is coming off a 4-3 thriller vs Philadelphia mid week. Lucho Acosta scored the winner in the 10th minute of stoppage time for Cincy.

The question for the Revs is if they can get a result vs a top team. New England defeated Vancouver last Saturday night at Gillette Stadium in a game that saw the return of Noel Buck to the starting lineup. Buck did not disappoint when he scored the Revs goal of the year to date with a first time wonder strike helping lift the Revs to victory.

Carles Gil continues to be the top dog for Revs. His assists numbers are down so far in 2024 but he is still dictating the pace of the game and creating chances for New England. Newcomers Xavier Arreaga and GK Aljaz Ivacic have been more than serviceable so far, showing their stability and quality during the 3 game win streak.

Dave Romney is back in the fold, partnering with Arreaga at the back and is looking like the Romney from the first half of the 2023 season. Dylan Borrero hasn't been stellar since his return from ACL surgery, but definitely is dynamic and can hurt the opposition with darting runs and defense splitting passes.

Will the Revs show us that this run of form is no fluke or will their play look more like the beginning of the season when the team was very unsure with what manager Caleb Porter was trying to deploy. Game time Saturday night is 7:30 in Cincinnati.
