Revs stay hot

A Giacomo Vrioni brace helped carry the New England Revolution to a 2-1 victory Saturday night in Cincinnati.

From the outset of the game New England carried the play and were rewarded when Carles Gil found Vrioni at the top of the box and the Albanian international ripped a left footed shot by FC Cincy keeper Roman Celentano. Vrioni doubled his tally when he was found in the box by surprise starter Ema Boateng. Boateng put in a perfect left footed cross and when DeAndre Yedlin slipped in the box Vrioni found himself wide open for the free header.

FC Cincy started the 2nd half brightly and a Yamil Asad header off of a corner kick brought Cincy within a goal at 2-1. A 2nd yellow from FC Fincy midfielder Obinna Nwodobo would have thought that New England would easily put the game to bed. This was not the case as Cincy continued to look threatening the rest of the match.

Aljaz Ivacic made 2 quality stops and repelled the last minute efforts of Cincy and the 3 points went to New England. It was New England's 4th win in a row and they are now out of the basement in the Eastern Conference.

Revs host Columbus Crew next Saturday and look to extend their win streak to 5, a feat that hasn't happened since the Supporters Shield season of 2021.
