Revs secure first win, RIFC draw.....Again

toddtinkham

The New England Revolution defeated Charlotte FC in a snooze fest at Gillette on Saturday night. The lone goal of the game was from Carles Gil. Gil put home a rebound aftet a shot from his brother Nacho Gil in the 53rd minute to secure all 3 points for the Revs.

New England manager Caleb Porter guaranteed victory earlier in the week, but somewhat back tracked his statements certainly felt fortunate in regards to the final result of the game.

Meanwhile down the road in Smithfield, Rhode Island RIFC drew once again, this time to the Charleston Battery. As was the Revs game this was also a snooze fest as the game ended up 0-0. The only bit of entertainment other than smoke flares was a 70th minute red card to Conor McGlynn.

RIFC look for their first win in 2024 at home this Saturday night vs Pittsburgh Riverhounds. Meanwhile the Revs travel to Mexico City and the Azteca Stadium to play Club America in the 2nd Leg of Concacaf Champions Cup play. New England trails 4-0 heading into Tuesday nights match.
