The New England Revolution were once again embarrassed by Club America on Tuesday night in Mexico City. The hallowed Azteca has hosted some of the biggest games this continent has ever seen, this however was not one of them. A half full Stadium and a changed Club America side wad less than impressive, yet still was enough for CA to dismantle the dreadful New England Revolution.
Club America was able to get on the scoresheet in the 21st minute. 3 more goals were added before New England could muster 2 consolation goals from Giacomo Vrioni. The tie was an 8-0 aggregate before Vrioni was able to provide his 2 goals, both assisted by Esmir Bajraktarevic.
This moment is another black eye for the New England Revolution franchise who is playing at an all time low level. When you start Tommy Mac, who has started 1 game since the 2022 season surely there is something more going on behind the scenes. With the lack of signings and player acquisitions this is looking like mission impossible for Caleb Porter. He will certainly have to do his best Tom Cruise impersonation to turn this group which lacks ambition and fight into a playoff team. Stay Tuned.
