Revs lose again, RIFC draw

toddtinkham

Another match day has passed and things Rhode Island north have not improved for your two teams playing at the top levels of the US Soccer pyramid. The New England Revolution traveled to New York City and Yankee Stadium to get played off the postage stamp pitch on Saturday night 2-0. Meanwhile at Bryant University Rhode Island FC played to another goal less draw snooze fest vs the lowly Pitttsburgh Riverhounds. The atmosphere was once again solid for the blue and yellow, but the onfield product was less than stellar. Rhode Island FC is looking like last year's New England Revolution as Goalkeeper Jackson Lee has been their best player the last couple of matches, this similar to Djordje Petrovics' heroics for Revs in '23.

Back to the Revs....It was more of the same for Caleb Porter's listless side. Minimal threat and fortitude was shown all game. This vs a side in NYCFC who also has been poor in '24. It seems that if a team wants to get proper footing in the league than the Revs are the team you want coming in. Once again Noel Buck was a DNP, with Tommy Mac coming on as a sub trying to spark play. This obviously didn't happen keeping New England in last place in the Eastern Conference.

Both of these teams lack scoring punch and creativity. Both sit near bottom in their respective leagues. RIFC get the benefit of the doubt as they are an expansion side. However if they don't start churning out wins the crowds will lessen and lessen as we inch closer to summer. For the Revs, it's more of the same for this flailing franchise. Poor play, lifeless footy and stagnated players will continue to hamper this group and organization. Major financial injection is needed this summer to save the season or it's 2025 season tix on sale........
