Last year the New England Revolution were primed to make an MLS Cup run after a phenomenal record breaking 2021 season. Unfortunately the injury bug hindered the progress of the Bruce Arena process. Many key players missed several games in 2022 which brought in question the training and medical staff for the Revs. After some staff dismissals within the training staff 2023 was supposed to be a year of good health and fortune. On the field the Revs have been excellent compiling 5 wins out of 8, and the only defeat was to 2022 MLS Cup champion LAFC. Off the field more questions are starting to be asked in regards to injuries and physical therapy/treatment practices of the Revs. Nacho Gil has a reported knee injury and was spotted on crutches in Spain. His availability was asked about in March and Bruce Arena said Nacho should be back in a few weeks. MLS journeyman Tommy MacNamara has yet to make his 2023 debut as well dealing with a "leg" injury. Some are saying it's an Achilles injury and TMac was reported to be in a boot or cast attending a Celtics game recently. Arena said Tommy is still a few weeks away, whatever a few weeks means. The lack of transparency is certainly frustrating. We never really get clarity of the specifics of these injuries and Coach Arena seems to say the first thing that comes to his mind when asked about what player time tables look like. Thankfully some of the young players have had opportunity to step in and play, and play well. Hopefully more questions are answered soon in regards to player injuries. The approved Revs media is very quiet when giving info when it comes to player injury as well. I believe this is Arena simply not telling anyone much at all. 3 questions remain for me.....Is it a coincidence that Revs remain bitten by the injury bug again this year?. Is Bruce Arena's training methods not conducive to today's athlete? Or are Revs physio's and training staff understaffed or not up to the task? We shall monitor the situation 😁😁, and see. Updated.......The situation has been monitored...... Something isn't adding up in Foxboro. I get Borrero's injury was in game, but now Vrioni is out injured.....The approved Revs media need to dog for more details.
Revs injury bug and player availability remain a mystery
