Revs FC Cincy battle to a draw

toddtinkham

The top 2 teams in MLS went toe to toe Saturday in Cincinnati. When all was said and done both teams battled to a 2-2 stalemate. Cincy opened the scoring with Dom Badji slotting in the opener within the first 15 minutes of the half. The lead was short lived when in the 24th minute Gustavo Bou ripped a shot on net and Cincy goal scorer Dom Badji unfortunately had the ball deflect in off his backside for the own goal. Bou struck again before half's end. Ema Boateng drove the ball down the left flank and put in a delightful cross in which Bou settled and nestled a shot in the side netting with his left foot. 2-1 is how the first half ended. FC Cincinnati was the better team in the second half and struck early when Dom Badji again found himself on the receiving end turning home the equalizer for FC Cincy. Cincinnati had the better if the chances all second half outshooting New England 22-9 for the game but were unable to put a third goal past Djordje Petrovic. The game ended 2-2. Both teams were missing key players with Brandon Vazquez, Matt Miazga, for Cincy and Dejuan Jones for Revs all at the Gold Cup representing the USA. FC Cincy still remains #1 in the East and in the Supporters Shield quest. With the transfer window looming both teams have been rumored with upgrades to the team incoming. It will be an intriguing second half of the MLS season for both teams.
