
Revs dominate underwhelming Independiente

In Leg 1 of Concacaf Champions Cup play the New England Revolution beat Independiente 1-0 in Panama. New England's goal came in the 2nd half when Giacomo Vrioni headed the ball to Tomas Chancalay who used a Mesut Ozil style bounce shot to beat the Independiente keeper.
Independiente was sloppy all night while New England looked slick in possession creating chances. Newcomer Henrich Ravas didn't have a lot to do but looked confident in net.
Perhaps the star of the game was commentator George D'Metellus. A veteran of the game D' Metellus thrilled the audience with political, pop and hip hop references and innuendo.
New England travels to DC to play DC United in week 1 of MLS play before hosting Independiente in Leg 2 of Concacaf Champions Cup.
