Revs defeat Orlando City 2-1

toddtinkham

The New England Revolution defeated Orlando City 2-1 in their last preseason tune up Saturday night. Giacomo Vrioni scored both goals for New England. Vrioni came on for Bobby Wood at halftime and looked very dangerous with and without the ball. The starting lineup for Revs looked to resemble that of a formidable starting 11. Dejuan Jones started for the first time this preseason after returning from duty with the USMNT. He played the first 45 minutes and was replaced by Makoun at LB at the half. Jack Panayotou started alongside Matt Polster in a double pivot role. Jack looked very comfortable on the ball. The front 3 consisted of Bobby Wood, Dylan Borrero and Damian Rivera. Dave Romney and Henry Kessler started at CB while Brandon Bye occupied his usual role at RB. "Trialist" Ema Boateng impressed in his cameo appearance as well. Noel Buck came in for Panayotou at the half and was more than serviceable in the 2nd half winning challenges and spraying the ball around the field. Djordje Petrovic was the man between the sticks and was stellar once again making the hard saves look easy and doing the routine things well also. Revs open MLS play next Saturday night at Charlotte. Opinion.......The Revs at times were opened up too easily, but Orlando was unable to punish New England. In the 2nd half New England adjusted and we're the better team. If healthy Revs should be a tough out for anyone and should push for a minimum of home field advantage in the Eastern Conference.
