Petrovic master class saves Revs

Djordje Petrovic has had some fantastic moments for the New England Revolution. Yesterday in the Bronx may have been his best performance as a Revs player. Time and time again Petrovic has carried the Revs to meaningful results during the 2023 season and yesterday was another moment where we will look back and say....Djordje Petrovic was the best goalkeeper ever to don a New England Revolution jersey. Petrovic had stellar saves of variety vs NYCFC Saturday afternoon. Denying point blank headers, break aways and long distance shots to keep the game to a scoreless draw. As for the game itself it was another lackluster performance from the Revs. It started with Jozy Altidore getting the nod up front with Bobby Wood in a 3-5-2 formation. Altidore had no impact on the game and was withdrawn at the half. Maligned DP striker Giacomo Vrioni replaced Altidore and had a bit more impact but was unable to help the Revs get a goal. Other than Petro their really were no other bright spots for New England. Christian Makoun had a nice defensive block in the first half. Bobby Wood had a decent chance in which the NYCFC keeper made a nice kick save. Carles Gil was active but was unable to leave his stamp on the game in regards to a goal contribution. Revs went a man up late in the game as NYCFC player Braian Cufre received an unjust straight red card, however New England could not take advantage. New England is now winless in their last 6 games and look disheveled offensively and defensively. Revs have a massive home stand coming up with Inter Miami, Orlando City and Toronto FC coming to Gillette in successive weeks. This is make or break time for Arena and crew. This next home stretch will define the season on whether Revs push near top in the East or wallow in Eastern Conference mediocrity.
