Goals from Maxi Moralez and Santi Rodriguez propelled NYCFC to a Round of 16 victory over Tigres UANL. Moralez goal in the 20th minute leveled the game, this after Pizarro for Tigres opened the scoring in the 17th minute. Moralez slotted a clever finish by the Tigres keeper jolting the NYCFC supporters who were located behind the Tigres goal in the first half.
With the game tied at 1, the 2nd half started positively for both teams. Tigres and NYCFC both had solid possession and attacking opportunities but neither were able to capitalize....Until the 65th minute. A give and go from my MOTM Maxi Moralez and Santi Rodriguez gave NYCFC the 2-1 lead which they never relinquished.
NYCFC now travels to Columbus to face the red hot Crew on Saturday night in the quarterfinals of Leagues Cup.
