Will Recupero's name has been ringing bells for the last couple years locally. The FC Flair, Boston Bolts, USYNT U-14/15 wonder kid came from humble beginnings in Hopkinton, Massachusetts.
Recupero started off as any other footy lover playing in local youth leagues tallying goals, assists and accumulating an impressive highlight reel on the way. Local club directors started to take notice when Will started to dominate playing 1 and 2 years up as spry 7, 8, 9 year old.
Playing futsal for FC Flair and club for NEFC Will began to catch the eye of USYNT coaches and this led to him joining Boston Bolts, playing at the MLS Next level. Will continued to play a year up for Bolts and his development took off. Will was so dominant for Bolts that the New England Revolution invited him to join them at this past year's Adidas Generations Cup as a guest player.
With no intention of joining the Revs Will's eyes have always been on getting overseas when the time was right. Will has been traveling to Germany the last few years training and waiting for the perfect opportunity to make the move.
This move was announced recently as Will will join Bundesliga side VFB Stuttgart's academy. With dual citizenship Will can go to Europe now and begin his next journey. VFB have a very successful history of developing young talent and placing them into the Bundesliga and other top leagues around the world. Boasting the likes of Timo Werner, Antonio Rudiger, Serge Gnabry and Joshua Kimmich just to name a few, Stuttgart has as an impressive academy list as anyone.
Recupero is building on an already impressive family lineage as his family already has exceptional accolades on the field and in the classroom. No shortcuts were taken and now Will is reaping the benefits. As someone who has seen Will develop from a young age, I am extremely bias and want to see him reach the highest of highs on and off the field.
