Hartford secured their first win of 2025 on Saturday. A Deshane Beckford 71st minute goal secured all 3 points for The Green, in balmy 85 degree conditions at Trinity Health Stadium.
Hartford received great contributions from Samuel Careaga who hasn't played since week 1. Careaga dictated the pace of the game and provided much needed help for a Hartford side dealing with injury to key players at the moment. Hartford keeper Antony Siaha had another solid match as well.

Hartford rival RIFC did not fair as well losing to Detroit City 2-0 at iconic Keyworth Stadium in the Detroit suburbs.
RIFC defender Frank Nodarse was sent off for an apparent hand to the face in the 6th minute. Detroit dominated after this altercation. USL Championship's hottest Striker Darren Smith scored 2 goals in 2 minutes to carry DCFC.
Smith's goals came in the 17th and 19th minute. Rhode Island continued to battle throughout the 90 but were unable to find the back of the net.
Both teams now will take a pause in league play as the Jagermeister Cup takes stage next weekend. Hartford hosts Portland Hearts of Pine and RIFC travel to Mt. Vernon to play Westchester FC. Both Westchester and Hearts of Pine compete in USL 1.
