RIFC and Hartford Athletic both were in action this past weekend. The 2 USL Championship outfits were both on the road with Hartford traveling to Cary, North Carolina to take on North Carolina Football Club. Rhode Island's journey took them to Lang Stadium to play USL Championship powers Tampa Bay Rowdies.

Things looked bright for RIFC when Albert Dikwa recorded his 3rd goal in 3 games for the

Anchors. The Rowdies then went on to score 4 straight goals en route to a 4-1 victory. New England Revolution loanee Damian Rivera tallied for Tampa continuing his solid play for the Rowdies. Rhode Island remains winless through 3 games to begin their USL journey and host Charleston Battery on Saturday night at Bryant University.

So far in 2024 the Hartford Athletic have been perfect with 6 out of 6 possible points. Brendan Burke and his crew were yet to concede prior to the NCFC match. NCFC forward Oalex Anderson's pace caused major problems for Harford as he earned a penalty which was converted by Louis Perez and scored one of his own with a darting run and cool finish.

Jay Chapman brought a goal back in the 72nd minute for Hartford, but the Athletic were unable to equalize and Hartford dropped their first match in 2024. Hartford hosts Miami FC on Saturday at Trinity Health Stadium.
