The name Frantzdy Pierrot is not a name that is synonymous in the New England soccer landscape. However Pierrot is likely the best soccer player ever to come out of New England.
Pierrot was born in Haiti and moved to Massachusetts as a child. It didn't take long for his talent to shine and for local clubs to offer him a place in their organization. Pierrot played his club soccer at Seacoast United which is based in the New England States of Maine and New Hampshire. Seacoast recently has branched into Massachusetts and its primary training facility is located in Amesbury. While at Seacoast Pierrot caught the eye of local college Northeatern University. After 2 successful years with the Huskies Pierrot transferred to Coastal Carolina. He continued his solid form with the Chanticlears and also with Reading United of the PDL which is now USL 2. That is when the Colorado Rapids of the MLS came calling and drafted Pierrot in the 2nd round of the MLS Super draft.
Instead of choosing MLS Pierrot Instead chose Royal Excel Moucron of the Belgian Pro League. After an inconsistent run in Belguim Pierrot took his talents to France for Ligue 2 Guincamp. This was the turning point in Frandzty's career and was the launching point for the Haitian striker. His first 2 years at Guincamp saw Frandzty a regular in the team scoring at about an average of 1 goal in every 3/4 games. In year 3 at Guincamp Pierrot became the top striker and started to score goals for fun. Pierrot notched 15 goals in the Ligue 2, 2021/2022 campaign. He also added several goals for Haiti in during 2021/2022 international competitions and friendlies.
Following 3 successful seasons at Guincamp one would have thought Pierrot would have stayed at Guincamp, but Pierrot and his team thought it was time for a new challenge. That challenge was Maccabi Haifa of the Israeli Premier League. When growing up on the pitches of Haiti and New England a dream come true for a youth is playing in the Champions League. This is exactly what Pierrot was walking into at Maccabi Haifa. This is the competition in which he has excelled. Pierrot notched 5 goals in 12 Champs League appearances last year helping Haifa to qualify for the Champions League proper only to be eliminated after the group stage. This year he scored 5 goals in 8 Champs League matches but Haifa was unable to qualify into the group stages this season, meaning the team is now competing in the Europa League.
Pierrot struggled vs Rennes in the first Europa League match but has scored 3 goals in 2 matches to begin the Israeli Premier League.
So......If you didn't know who Frandzty Pierrot was, now you know a bit more about his tremendous but mostly unheralded soccer career. Keep an eye out for him when Haiti is competing or if you are a follower of the Israeli Premier League. He is certainly one to watch.
