Fofana rock solid for club and country

Mamadou Fofana is not the most graceful defender nor is he known to get on the score sheet. What he does do is DEFEND. In a day where defenders are too often judged on their goal contributions and forward passes, Fofana is your old school out and out defender.

With over 200 appearances in France spanning Ligue 1, and Ligue 2 for Amiens and FC Metz, Fofana also accumulated 37 appearances in the Turkish 1st and 2nd division playing for Alanyaspor and Bandirma Spor. While being a pillar of toughness and consistency for club, Fofana has compiled 50 CAPS for Mali. Matter of fact, he was in the squad for AFCON this past winter and played 90 minutes vs Zambia in the group stage.

Since Fofana has joined the Revs he has been a consummate pro. Not only has his stability on the field help bolster the defense, his presence around the academy is felt. He often attends Revs 2 matches to route on the boys, while also having time to engage with fans in attendance.

Yesterday Fofana had a goal line clearance in the Revs 6-1 thrashing of FC Cincinnati. His no nonsense defending style for me compliments Brayan Ceballos, a more ball playing CB who is stellar in the air.

If the Revs are going to get back into the playoffs they will need Fofana to be at his very best. His commitment, consistency and cohesive play and demeanor will be a massive X factor for the Revolution in 2026.
