ECNL Regional League Florida Showcase and Premier League Fan Fest

This past weekend Footy New England traveled to Orlando Florida for the ECNL/ ECNL Regional League Showcase. The Boston Bolts ECRL U17 team had a very strong performance posting a 2-0-1 record and finishing 7th out of 44 teams. The Bolts defeated United from Georgia 6-2. On Saturday the Bolts drew with North Carolina Fusion 0-0. Sunday was the conclusion of the showcase and the team representing mainly South Shore and Cape Cod players went down 2-0 to Florida West. The Bolts then went on to score 6 unanswered goals. With this performance the team finished with 7 out of 9 possible points and we're the highest placed New England team with over 15 New England teams attending over the different age groups. With several hours in between game and flight we decided to head to Universal Studios to indulge in the Premier League Fan Fest. The fan fest has traveled to a few different cities over the last few years including Boston. Rebecca Lowe is the host, co-hosted by former professional players Robbie Mustoe and Robbie Earle. Former USMNT goalkeeper Tim Howard was also part of the broadcast team this weekend. All time premier league goal scorer Alan Shearer was on hand Saturday along with Gary Cahill former Chelsea defender. Players we're there for photo opportunities with fans. The premier league trophy was also in attendance for fans to see and take photos with. Sunday's feature game had Arsenal hosting Manchester United with Arsenal posting a dramatic 3-2 victory. There were several fans in attendance sporting their favorite MLS team gear. Footy New England had the opportunity to speak with a few fans on regards to the up and coming 2023 MLS season. Many fans have Orlando City building on their US Open Cup title and contending for MLS Cup in 2023. When Footy New England asked about what fans thought of New England Revolution chances to have a successful season many were dismissive and we're pessimistic about the Revs building on the 2021 Supporters Shield. In all it was a fantastic weekend of energy and Footy, looking forward to the next opportunity to travel and experience the beautiful game in other cities and communities.
