When former Rangers FC boss Steven Gerrard expressed interest back in 2020 for Serbian keeper Djordje Petrovic of FK Cuckaricki, I doubt he thought that his former club Liverpool, heated rival Manchester United and London based club Chelsea would be josseling over Petrovic's signature. That is certainly the case as reported by many transfer insiders. What has turned out to be Rangers loss has turned into fortune for the New England Revolution. Petrovic has been stellar since replacing former Revs keeper and current Arsenal back up Matt Turner. In 23 MLS appearances Petro has 9 clean sheets, including back to back shutouts to start 2023. The 6 foot 4, 23 year old had an astonishing 4 penalty kick saves in 2022 and a save percentage of 76%. Petrovic also made his way back into the Serbian National team after an impressive 2022 with the Revs that saw him finish 2nd to Andre Blake in MLS Goalkeeper of the year voting. One thing is for sure Djordje Petrovic has a very bright future and won't be in MLS for long. Petro should command a sizeable transfer fee in and around $10-15 million. That number coming from a tweet from GMG on July 30th. Petro is under contract until the end of 2025 with an option for 2026. If you haven't seen Petrovic between the sticks, make sure you check him out, he is a can't miss prospect and Revs 2023 season hangs in the balance of whether he stays or goes.
