Arlington, Massachusetts native Noel Buck is on his way to represent England again in two upcoming matches for the young lions. Buck and England take on Sweden on Friday and the Republic of Ireland on Tuesday.
Buck will play alongside many highly regarded English Nationals attached to massive English clubs. Forward Dane Scarlett (Tottenham Hotspur) who played on loan for recently promoted Ipswich Town, appeared 12 times for Ipswich. Sunderland star boy Jobe Bellingham will run with Buck in the midfield. Jobe who is being scouted by Borussia Dortmund and others is the younger brother of Real Madrid's Champs League hero Jude Bellingham.
As for Buck, a promotion from the U19's to the Elite Squad (formerly known as the U20's) was not a foregone conclusion. Buck who has been unable to break through in 2024 for New England has only played 188 minutes through 14 MLS games this season.
After a breakout 2023 season under Bruce Arena, Buck was tabbed to be a day 1 starter in 2024. There are many rumors swirling around Buck's absence in the New England 11. One in which states that Buck already has an agreement on the table with an overseas club. Several clubs in England, Germany and Belguim are hoping for Buck's signature this summer.
Another rumor swirling is that the USMNT staff was displeased in Buck's assessment on not being selected by the US and have had conversations with New England Revolution staff in regards to Buck's handling.
Whatever the reason may be, Buck keeps getting called in to the England youth teams and that will keep him confident during this time of struggle on the club level. Big things still to come for the 19 year old.
