In an exhilarating game at St. John's, Belson Stadium Brockton FC United defeated NY Pancyprian Freedoms 3-1 with all 4 goals scored after the 90th minute.
Brockton opened the scoring when Pancyprian Goalkeeper took down a Brockton player in the box earning a penalty. That pen was dispatched by Wuilito Fernandez giving Brockton the lead in the 91st minute. Pancyprian equalized when John Holland found the ball at his feet after sloppy defensive work from Brockton. Holland made no mistake and put home his chance in the 94th minute.
Pancyprian may have thought they had done enough to send the game to the overtime periods but Brockton had other ideas. After a quick restart taken by United a shot was parried to Brockton and tucked in in the 97th minute putting Brockton ahead for good. The cherry on the sundae came when Ramos Mendonca chipped the keeper from 45 yards out sending the Brockton squad and managers into a state of euphoria.
Brockton now awaits the US Open Cup draw to see who they play. They will likely play a NPSL or a USL team. That game will take place in January or February we will soon see. Below is the link to watch the excitement of the last 12 minutes.
