In a twist of events the Sete Setembro vs Boston City FC match was abandoned at the half last night when one of the linesman refused to come back on the field for the 2nd half of play. The match was extremely physical and emotions were running very high on the field and on the sidelines for both clubs.
Sete was the better team in the first half creating more chances and tallying a goal from Paulinho Le Petit. The goal came from a direct free kick near the top of the box and the former LA Galaxy man, made no mistake, curling a left footed shot over the wall and bent the shot inside the near post.
Back to the events which lead to the abandonment. Both Sete and Boston City benches and coaching staff were vocal and critical of the linesman and game officials as the game got very physical and chippy. This is believed to be the cause of the linesman refusing to officiate the 2nd half.
It is unclear of how this fixture moves forward. EPSL officials will decide this games fate in the upcoming days.
