It has been a busy last couple weekends for the U19 Boston Bolts ECRL boys team. The group first traveled to Richmond, Virginia to play in the prestigious Jefferson Cup, then last weekend they competed in the Scorpions Invitational.
In Richmond the team finished with 2 wins and 1 draw. Friday the Bolts defeated the Charlotte Eagles Soccer Club 3-2 in a cagey affair. Saturday the opponent was Virginia United. Not only did the boys from primarily the South Shore and Cape Cod have to battle Virginia United, they had to deal with the elements. Playing through occasional downpours Boston put on an impressive display defeating Virginia United 5-0. In the Jefferson Cup finale the Long Island Slammers came calling. The Bolts had many chances and could only muster 1 goal, the game finished 1-1.
This past weekend the team found themselves back in action in the Scorpions invitational. The 2 games on Saturday proved a challenge for a team that had limited subs. The Bolts put 5 past the New England Navigators in a game that was closer than the score. The late game pitted the Bolts vs Rhode Island Scorpions. That game finished 1-1. Both teams were scrappy and tired with both playing there 2nd game of the day.
The Bolts now finish the final stretch of the season in ECRL league play. Currently sitting at the top of the Northeast Region with 5 wins and 1 draw. Hoping for a trip to the Nationals in North Carolina a first place finish is necessary for the team to achieve their ultimate goal.
Below are goals scored by Graham Tinkham. The first a nice team goal vs Virginia United at Jefferson Cup. The 2nd a Penalty vs Scorpions, in the Scorpions Invitational, the pen equalized the game.
