Benteke dominant in DC win

toddtinkham

Christian Benteke has been in a bit of a slump the last 2 months for DC United. The Belgian striker snapped out of it in a big way in a convincing 4-0 win vs Chicago Fire on Saturday night. Benteke opened the scoring in the first half when he took down a pinged ball from Mateusz Klich. Benteke took the ball off the chest and around the defender with a sharp left foot finish to open the scoring.

Benteke again contributed in DC's 2nd goal when he played keepy up with himself and played Theo Ku Dipietro through for DC's 2nd goal. Before the half ended Benteke again contributed this time with a back heel flick which was turned in by Chicago resulting in an own goal.

What did Benteke have for an encore? A simple tap in to cap the game and Benteke's spectacular night. This performance will certainly get Benteke MLS team of the week. It was a much needed 3 points for DC who now find themselves back in the playoff places. Highlights below courtesy of MLS and DC United.
