Another winless weekend for the New England Big 3

Another weekend has passed and it's another winless weekend for your New England Big 3. Not only were The Revs, Hartford Athletic, and Rhode Island FC all defeated, they were defeated comprehensively by a cumulative score of 13-2.

Let's start with the Revs as they played host to Inter Miami and Lionel Messi. The biggest crowd at Gillette Stadium ever (65k+) were ready for Messi League Soccer. The GOAT did not disappoint tallying two goals and 1 assist. Question mark based on health Luis Suarez also got in on the fun chipping in with a stellar goal assisted from Messi.

Surprisingly New England scored first, when they turned an Inter Miami turnover into a Tomas Chancalay goal assisted by Carles Gil. Other than that chance New England was less than stellar on the night eventually losing 4-1.

Several Revs players were out injured or sick in the next chapter of "How low can this organization sink". The one good thing in the night was seeing Dylan Borrero return from an ACL injury he suffered a year ago.

Rhode Island FC played a rare Friday night game as they hosted Phoenix. The Rising wasted no time getting on the scoreboard early when Cabral scored in the 7th minute. He them scored again before half time doubling the Phoenix lead.

A Clay Holstad free kick master class set piece got Rhodey on the board in the 89th minute, only for Phoenix to out the final nail in the coffin shortly after. Jackson Lee started in goal and for me looked shaky. I think it is Koke Vegas time for the Anchors. Albert Dikwa had a penalty saved and if Rhode Island wants to do anything this year they need the former league MVP firing.

Saturday Hartford traveled to USL Championship powerhouse Louisville City and ran into a buzz saw. Louisville dominated minute 1 to minute 90 posting a 6-0 win. Louisville had 10 shots on target to Hartford's 0. After the good start to the season Harford has been poor the last couple of weeks and need to get things going again if they want to remain in the playoff places in the East of the USL Championship.

It has certainly been a rough stretch for The New England Big 3. With summer approaching all 3 teams need to start getting positive results to keep or create a buzz around these teams. An active transfer window is needed for all 3 in order to ensure a positive 2024.
