toddtinkham

You don't typically see a 6-5 center back who is calm and collected on the ball and glides around the pitch with the grace and elegance of a top matador. That is exactly what you have in Abdul Barrie Jr. The 21 year old CB has played and won at many levels is turning heads again locally.

The 4 year Canton High grad is back playing locally this spring and summer after returning from Irish First Division club Athlone Town FC. Barrie has returned back to New England and has been playing for Brockton FC United since coming home.

After a stellar 4 year career at Canton High, Barrie Jr. did a post grad year at South Kent Prep in Connecticut, where he was part of a very talented group at South Kent helping them take home top NESCAC honors.

This all led to NCAA D1 power Marshall offering Barrie Jr. a spot on the Thundering Herd's roster.

While at Marshall Barrie Jr. came to the conclusion that he wanted to fulfill his dream and play European football. Barrie Jr. had played for local club Valeo FC who has a pro level club in the Divisao De Honra in Portugal. Barrie Jr. took his talents to Portugal in the fall of 2023. In 10 appearances for the club Barrie Jr. impressed helping the club win 6 out of those 10 matches playing a full 90 in 8 out of the 10 while also scoring a goal.

Barrie's consistent and productive play got him on the radar for Athlone Town FC where he signed during the January transfer window. This leads us to where we are now. With the can't miss size and athleticism mixed with the quality on the ball and a high game IQ, expect Barrie Jr. to make a move to a USL level team soon. Eyes are open and the name is getting circulated. Check man out playing at a pitch near you this spring in summer.
