98.5 gets the Borrero injury scoop, but why?

toddtinkham

This week on Bruce Arena's call in to 98.5 The Sports Hub with Zo and Bertrand he gave more insight into Dylan Borrero's recent knee injury. When Scott Zolak asked about the injury Arena explained that their was damage to the ligaments and cartilage that would result in season ending surgery. All week long other members of Revs media, which includes several members who have been dedicated for years to the club asked similar questions but got vague, less specific answers in regards to the extent of Borrero's injury....But why? Is Bruce Arena only able to give more specifics to 98.5 because they are the flagship station and broadcast Revs games? Is Arena going out of his way to disrespect the beat guys? Or is he simply just forgetting to share the specifics with the reporters who are there win, lose or draw? We all know that Zo and Bertrand have been detractors of the game. They go out of their way at times to banter the sport and poke fun at aspects and antics within the game. It is disheartening that Arena gives them the scoop and the reporters who are always their and doing it for little to no money get scraps for information and are sometimes left to draw their own conclusions. It reminds me of the Ema Boateng contract situation. The man gets a contract where he is taking home just north of $60k, and has been a great ambassador on and off the field and he is winning games for the group....While Jozy Altidore is contributing little to nothing and is still one of the highest paid players on the team. This all isn't sitting right with me. It should be the players and people in an around the club that invest the most time reap the benefits. Sadly it isn't quite working that way in Revs land......
