The National Academy League is launching tomorrow. It is a new youth soccer league spanning the whole northeast. Local clubs such as Boston Bolts, Valeo, Seacoast United, IFA, NEFC, and Bayside are set to begin play fall of 2023. Other clubs such as PA Classics (Christian Pulisic's youth team) Cedar Stars Academy, FC Barca New York, are just a few of the teams that are joining this new league. It certainly throws a wrench in the whole setup. MLS Next, ECNL have been the top leagues in the East for the last several years. It seems as if some clubs will be leaving ECNL to join this new venture. For me it's just another problem in the American youth setup. Too many leagues and the best kids are scattered around all over the place. Hopefully these leagues can coexist and find ways for teams in different leagues to have some sort of cross play competitions. If not, it will be a detriment to the development of our players......
